a busy morning at our first ever ‘Ask the Experts’ Coffee and Chat

We were delighted to welcome so many parents and carers to Our House on Friday 6th March for our first of our Parents’ Coffee and Chat: Ask the Experts sessions.

The event brought together families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs in a relaxed and friendly setting, with the opportunity to speak one-to-one with specialist therapists and get practical advice about any concerns they may have.

Speech therapist Katy Rimmington, occupational therapist Sharon Wignall and physiotherapist Lauren Nash kindly volunteered their time to offer short advice clinics throughout the morning.

Parents were able to drop in, ask questions and discuss their child’s needs in an informal environment, while also connecting with other families over coffee.

Our Centre Manager shared how positive the morning felt:

“We were delighted to see so many parents come along to our Coffee and Chat session on Friday morning at Our House. Having the therapists available in a relaxed and informal setting made it easier for families to ask questions and access the support they need. It was wonderful to see parents connecting with each other and sharing experiences.

"We are incredibly grateful to Sharon, Katy and Lauren for offering their time and expertise. We hope to continue running similar sessions to provide ongoing support for families of children and young people with additional needs. Watch this space!”

We are hugely grateful to the therapists who volunteered their expertise and helped make the morning such a valuable experience for families.
