We were delighted to welcome several Brownie, Cub and Beaver groups to Our House recently.
These young visitors came for an evening session where they learned all about what we do, experienced our accessible playtherapy centre and told us about their fundraising efforts.
Their leaders brought them along to enjoy the soft play and ball pool area (a real favourite!), to explore our sensory room and to get hands-on insight into why inclusive play spaces matter.
Centre Manager Nicki Mitchell guided each group around the venue, gave a short talk about disability inclusion, and hosted refreshments so everyone could chat and unwind.
"It was a joy to see the children engage so openly — many of them trying equipment for the first time, asking thoughtful questions and just generally having so much fun," said Nicki.
"From our side, it was affirming to witness how curiosity, openness, and empathy grow when young people are given access and understanding."
We hope many more community groups, scouts, youth clubs, and families will come along for similar sessions.
It’s a chance not only to support our charity (through fundraising or donations) but also to build awareness and connection.
If you’re a group leader, teacher, or parent interested in visiting or hosting a fundraising evening, please do get in touch — working together helps us build keep running our 'home from home' for disabled children and their families.
