Our CEO, Jane Holmes, was delighted to attend the Wokingham Fireworks Presentation Evening last night, celebrating the success of this year’s Wokingham Charity Fireworks Extravaganza.
The annual event, which took place this year on 1st November, saw generous donations made to a range of vital local charities.
The procession traditionally begins in the centre of Wokingham with a torchlit parade, leading to the spectacular pyrotechnic display at Cantley Park.
Leading the way this year were St Sebastian Wokingham Band, alongside Wokingham MP Clive Jones, Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Carol Jewell, Wokingham Town Mayor Cllr Louise Timlin, Mini Town Mayor Avani from Floreat Montague Park, and 10-year-old Ellen Gardner, winner of the Wokingham Fireworks competition.
Run by the Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust, the event relies on the dedication of more than 90 volunteers who contribute countless hours to make the evening possible.
The 2025 event supported key organisations including Soulscape, Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Samaritans Bracknell, Wokingham, Ascot & Districts, and Bibs (Babies in Buscot Support). Additionally, the Mayors’ charities - that's us, Building for the Future, and CLASP and - each received £500 in donations to help local disabled children and people in need.
The Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust is made up of members from Wokingham Rotary Club, Easthampstead Rotary Club, Wokingham Lions Club and the Windsor Forest Unicorn Club. Their tireless efforts bring about a hugely enjoyable community event for Wokingham that benefits charities - and for us that means more support for children and young people with disabilities across Wokingham and the surrounding areas. Thank you to everyone involved and who donated.
