Charity Thanked by Wokingham Mayor

Updated: Apr 17, 2023

We were honoured to be one of Wokingham's charities to be invited to a special volunteer thank-you event hosted by the borough’s Mayor Counsellor Caroline Smith.

Over 100 people from 40 local voluntary groups were invited to an evening at The Oakwood Centre on 14th March.

Cllr Smith thanked the charities and groups for their volunteer efforts in the community and then presented Honour Award certificates.

A speech was made by Sam Sudlow chairman of Wokingham Foodbank, the Mayor’s charity of the year.

During the presentation of the certificates, each winning individual was also presented with a lapel badge, whilst each winning group received a shield and a certificate.

Cllr Smith said: “I am delighted to host my thank you event of the year to express my sincere gratitude to our local voluntary and community organisations who work tirelessly to help improve the wellbeing of borough residents.

"It has been a fantastic evening to meet everyone and learn more about the empowering work they do.”
