A local gym is putting its pedals to good use for our great cause.
David Lloyd Clubs Reading has kicked off a series of fundraisers in support of Building for the Future, the charity behind Our House, a playtherapy centre for disabled children.
Our House provides a safe, sensory-led space for children to play and develop, while also supporting carers and helping disabled young adults prepare for life after college.
Hannah Cox, General Manager of the Reading Club, said the partnership came about by chance. “We were looking at local charities, and you landed on our doorstep,” she said.
The first event, a Spinathon, saw 18 participants take part in back-to-back 45-minute classes, each donating £10. “It sparked interest in more events and supporting the charity,” Hannah added.
The Club is already planning its next family-friendly fundraising event later this month. Proceeds will be shared between Building for the Future and David Lloyd Clubs' national charity partner, Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The partnership is a source of pride for Building for the Future. “We are delighted to be selected by David Lloyd Clubs Reading,” said a spokesperson for the charity. “Their support enables us to continue providing vital services for disabled children and their families.”
With further events on the horizon, both David Lloyd Clubs Reading and Building for the Future are looking forward to strengthening their community ties and raising more funds to make a difference in the lives of disabled children and young adults.
