Following a highly successful Swallowfield Show over the August Bank Holiday 2025, the Swallowfield Horticultural Society has chosen Building for the Future, Wokingham’s leading disability charity, as the recipient of a generous donation from the event’s proceeds.
The annual two-day show attracted nearly 8,500 visitors, offering a lively celebration of horticulture and community spirit.
Organised entirely by volunteers, the Swallowfield Show has long been a highlight for the local community, combining entertainment with charitable fundraising.
“We are delighted to support Building for the Future,” said a spokesperson for the Swallowfield Horticultural Society.
“We understand that many smaller charities are facing challenges at the moment, and we hope this donation will make a meaningful difference.”
Members of the Society recently visited Our House, Building for the Future’s bespoke playtherapy centre for disabled children, to present the generous donation of £1,500 which will be used to support our ongoing work providing activities, events and therapies for children and young people with additional needs.
"We are so grateful to the Swallowfield Horticultural Society and to everyone who attended this year's fantastic show," said Building for the Future's CEO Jane Holmes,
"It's wonderful local event and one that many of our families enjoy year after year, for its inclusivity and variety of things to see and experience.
"£1,500 is a huge sum of funds raised and they are very much appreciated by myself and the team here. On behalf of them all and the families at Our House we thank you."
