BFTF Plus had the pleasure of welcoming young people from across the community during the recent half-term, offering two engaging and uplifting sessions designed to inspire, connect, and support.
The week began with our ‘What’s Next?’ Workshop on Friday, a session focused on life beyond college. Attendees discussed career paths, further education, and the challenges and opportunities ahead. The highlight of the day was a motivational talk by Thomas Ruel-Urry, a young athlete and professional living with Cerebral Palsy.
Thomas, who plays for the Chelsea Cerebral Palsy football team, works as a Therapy Assistant at Green Corridor, and is an accomplished swimmer, shared his experiences of balancing sport, work, and wellbeing. His insights into managing fatigue, handling pressure, and staying motivated were both relatable and inspiring. He closed with empowering words on the importance of self-belief and goal-setting—messages that truly resonated with our group.
The energy continued on Sunday with a Sports Fun Session filled with laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition. Nine young people came together to enjoy inclusive games like New Age Kurling and Boccia, in a supportive, family-friendly environment that encouraged participation and friendship.
These sessions are part of our ongoing commitment at BFTF Plus to provide enriching, inclusive experiences for young disabled people—supporting their aspirations, building confidence, and nurturing a sense of community.
We’re excited about the future and are planning even more events and opportunities to empower and connect.
