Wokingham Lions Celebrate Community Spirit with Generous Charity Donations

The Wokingham Lions reaffirmed their dedication to the local community at their recent Celebration Event, where three local charities received a total of £15,000 from the proceeds of this year’s Wokingham May Fayre.

Among the attendees was Jason McMahon, Fundraising Manager at Building for the Future, who spoke passionately about the charity’s mission and its work supporting disabled children and young adults through the “Our House” centre in Wokingham.

The evening also marked the end of Andy Goffin’s successful term as Chairman of the Lions. During his leadership, the group continued its tradition of tireless community service and fundraising. Congratulations were extended to Andy for a job well done.

This year’s Fayre proceeds were split equally between Building for the Future, Promise Inclusion, and Younger People with Dementia—three charities making a meaningful difference in the Wokingham area. Each received £5,000 to support their important work.

Jane Holmes, CEO of Building for the Future, who was also at the event, expressed her gratitude: “Our grateful thanks to the Wokingham Lions for their very generous donation. We are so appreciative of their support, which will help us immeasurably over the coming year as we work towards expanding our service into bigger and better premises for our ever-growing community.”

The Lions’ next major event is the Wokingham Lions Swimathon, taking place on 16th July—another chance to celebrate local spirit, support good causes, and make a splash for charity.

With community at their heart, the Wokingham Lions continue to shine as a beacon of support for local organisations and residents alike.
